Great episode, like every episode you do! A big thank-you to Danielle to share with us her half-marathon.
About the Robert Downey, Jr pictures: the movie is “Iron Man 2″ and Newton does shoes for Ironman competition; am I the only who sees a link?
Ciao!
PS: your “family baseball hats” are wonderful!
Sorry, I think I must clarify: could Newton paid Mr. Robert Downey Jr. to wear “Ironman” shoes on the set of “Iron Man” movie? That’s the link I was talking about…
The presence of Mrs. Wood on the Episode 43 podcast made it twice as good. Both of you “told a good story” about the Brooklyn run. Your descriptive and witty descriptions made your loyal listeners feel as if we were there. Excellent! As for the singing of the National Anthem at the start of the race, it must have been a case of “movable DO”! I enjoy your longer podcasts as they last long enough to complete a good run.
Hi Brandon!
Great episode and great to hear Mrs. Wood’s experience on the Half Marathon. For some reason NYRR has been dropping the ball recently on water stations – heard some similar feedback on the Runner’s World Forum. So far I think I’ve been lucky but all the events I’ve been to have been superb. Only exception was on the NYRR Manhattan Half Marathon in Central Park where the water stations froze – yes, froze – but it’s not their fault that it was 10 degrees…
3 weeks to go to Rio! Quick update on my ITBS – had a couple of massages with Tom and the pain is all gone. This week I managed to run every day pretty much without pain but I’m keeping my distances rather low – between 5 to 7 miles each day. Tomorrow I will try for my last long run (fingers crossed). Just hope this will be enough but we’ll see… I was hoping to be averaging close to 50 miles per week now but with the ITBS I did 30mi last week.
Quick question for you. You mentioned Kinesio taping and that it helped you. I just ordered a small roll of the tape to give it a try. Would you have pictures on how you positioned it on your IT Band? I searched at Youtube but couldn’t find anything specific for the IT Band. Any other links you would suggest with directions?
Also, will try to make it for this Tuesday’s Newton event – just have to check if I can leave work early. Will let you know.
Best,
Raphael
