Hey Brandon! Another quality episode – thanks for all you do!
I have a question I know you can help with re: cycling.
Ive been taking 45min Spin Classes 3x a week to crosstrain for my marathon since May. Since then I've developed pain/weakness/cramps in the outside of both ankles. I spoke to one of the instructors about this and he thought it might be because Im still wearing my running shoes on the bike (he checked out my bike settings and said they looked good and shouldnt be causing the pain). I have big (size 10.5W) feet so he thinks I may not be getting my feet far enough into the pedal straps. Also, he recommended that I get some clip in shoes – do you think that would help? I am a complete spin newb so I dont even know where to start in buying spin shoes – can you help?
Thanks for being the go to guy Brandon!!

PS – To Joe above – as a former Bassoonist I TOTALLY get the reed reference – nobody likes a lip splinter! :)

Brandon! Another great podcast that got me thru my Thursday lifting session! Just wanted to point out another "small world" moment – You mentioned Steve Spiers (Run Bulldog Run) in your podcast – Steve and I are old co-workers! We also run many of the same local events and see each other on the courses (rather I see the dust he has kicked up!!!) He has helped me tremendously with my training – not only giving great advice but being super supportive and encouraging. In addition to being an UBER talented runner/athlete he is also an amazing person! I highly recommend his book to everyone!

I just had to let you know how cool it was to hear a plug for Steve on your show – I know he will be appreciative – he is certainly deserving!

Thank again for all YOU do for the running community!

i grew up drinking chia! I used to call them frog eggs. But a great way to drink chia is Iskiate: a bottle of cold water, 1 fresh squeezed lime, a tablespoon of chia and a squirt of agave nectar. Voila a natural energy drink!
    I love ch-ch-ch-Chiiia!

  16. Phil Uecker tinyurl.com says:

    ch-ch-ch-chia. c-c-c-comment.

My current long run energy comes from honey and lemon juice in water. Could you add chia seds to this?
