Comment posted on What Do You Want To Do Next Year? by Shawn

My race schedule is up in the air at the moment. I do know that I will be training for the Rhode Island Save the Bay swim. Its a 1.7 mile swim from Newport to Jamestown across Narragansett Bay. It should be really fun. I might also do a half iron distance aqua bike. I can’t wait for next season.

Congrats on breaking 4 hours! And I agree, you WILL eventually crush 3:30:00! You should get some rest in because once that baby comes, rest goes out the window, I know, I have 3 kids!!!!!

Hey Brandon! I agree, everyone needs to get out there and do something. With no cartilage in my left knee, I am still swimming, biking, walking and occasionally running. I find a way to stay active and participate in the sport that I enjoy doing. NO excuses! GREAT podcast and thanks for the book! I was wicked excited to have won! I can’t wait to start reading it!

    Hey Brandon!
Its been awhile but I have been keeping up with the podcasts and #62 was another great one. I knew Chrissie Wellington was going to take Kona again this year, but I thought Macca would have pulled out the win for the mens side.

    Take care,

    Shawn

my plan for next year is to run a race every month!! i ran my first marathon in october and hope to do TWO next year (may and october). i have yet to do a tri, but might throw one in there somewhere (only a sprint distance). good luck with your race plans and in philly! you seem extremely hardcore, and i love it!

Great to see that you’ve got so much of your year planned out ahead of time. It makes it easier to outline your training. I’ll be running my first marathon next May. Between now and then, I’ve got a few 10k’s lined up, along with another half marathon or two. My main goal this winter is to build a HUGE mileage base, assuming this old body holds up. So far, so good, though!

I’d like to run the Manhattan and Bronx 1/2 marathons in January and February respectively. I’m looking into the Pocono Mountain Marathon in May and possibly the Philadelphia Marathon in the fall.

I’m planning to run a half marathon in Feb/March and hopefully Boston in April. In honor of my big 30th, I plan to run the Pikes Peak Marathon in August and the NYC Marathon in November. I’ll fill in the gaps with my first triathlon in June and some other races too:) Busy year – whew!

    hi mate,
just going to focus on two races next year. London in april, and Berlin in september. If everything went to plan, then London would be done in a 3.30 or better, then on to Berlin. If i could do Belin in 3.15.59 then i would make the cut for Boston. So in theory to shave off 15 mins every 6 month.

I aim to break my PR at the Brighton marathon in April unless my lazy brother finally gives in a chooses to run with me and then it will be just about having fun.

Then its back on the bike and probably off to do the Imbeciles of Ventoux; A one day ride up the three sides of Mont Ventoux in France.
