After what has seemed like an eternity for many of us die-hard Newton Running fans, the much heralded trail shoe has finally landed in the Newton store for pre-order! I spoke with Sir Isaac a tiny bit today and got some of the skinny on the shoes:
“Closed mesh, PU frame above the EVA for additional support and
protection, gusseted tongue, more supportive strapping, reinforced toe
cap.”
I can’t WAIT to try out these new shoes and get them nice and dirty on any trail I can find! When I do get some on my feet, you can be certain that I will give those of you on the fence about buying some for yourself a detailed rundown. For those of you that can’t wait, click the picture below!
Hi Brandon. Do you know if this shoe is primarily marketed, like the Sir Isaac, for those new to forefoot running. I was just wondering if they might later come out with a performance trail shoe.

Hi Stu-
Good question. The Terra Momentus is built on the same last as the Sir Isaac but that’s primarily because the Isaac has a great stable platform for trail running. We consider the Terra to be a full-blown performance trail shoe and we’re confident you’ll find them to be some of the fastest on the market.
That said, we are working on some more minimalist, race-specific trail shoes….stay tuned.
Thanks for your support!
Cheers,
Sir Isaac
Thanks so much for the info Sir Isaac! I’m so excited to see what’s next!
Got an answer from Newton to my not so smart question.

Hi Robert,
The new trail shoe is designed for anyone, not just those new to forefoot running. It shares many characteristics with the Isaac in order to increase durability. Let us know if you have any other questions!
Run Strong,
Sir Isaac
Hi Brandon – Have you had a chance to put some miles on your Terra Momentus? I was wondering what your opinion on the shoe might be. I just bought a pair and am still debating if they are a shoe I want to keep. After running in the Newton racer for the last six months the Terra Momentus seems like a huge step back in terms comfort/fit/stability. I’m just having trouble getting used to this Sir Isaac platform. I’m hoping Newtons goes more minimalist with their next trail shoe.
Keep up the good work.

Believe it or not, Stu, I have not run in the Terra\’s. What I can tell you though is that if you want the performance feel but the more closed upper for weather purposes, I highly recommend the AW\’s (http://www.newtonrunning.com/newton-products/the-shoes/mens-shoes/men-trainers/men-all-weather-black) though the sizes online are limited right now. Otherwise, you could come to the NYC marathon expo this weekend and try on the Terra. I have heard that some who are not big fans of the Sir Isaac\’s like the Terra.
