American runner Ryan Hall has left his long time coach Terrence Mahon and the Mammoth Track Club. This move will be followed by a move to relocate Hall and his wife Sara from Mammoth Lakes, California where they\’ve lived since 2005.
Over the past few months (or weeks) there was a distinct uneasiness with Hall which he did not hide when writing on his blog about his decision to withdraw from the 2010 Chicago Marathon. Hall wrote:
The decision was based on looking at the entire last six-week block of training and the direction my body was headed. Week after week I felt my overall energy and strength to be able to run the long tempo runs and long runs, which are so important to marathon training, gradually deteriorate. My level of fatigue, though not an injury, could have lasting implications on my career should I choose to run an all-out marathon through it.
This decision came on the heels of a disappointing 14th place finish at the Rock \’n Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon (formerly the Philadelphia Distance Run). At the 2010 Chicago Marathon, Hall made it clear that he would be going after the American record.
