Monday Memories: Fabian Cancellara Attacks in the 2010 Tour of Flanders

There are few things as amazing to watch as a perfectly (and powerfully) executed attack on a wickedly hard climb. In the 2010 Tour of Flanders, Fabian Cancellara unleashed hell on Tom Boonen. The two had been working together to decimate the field when they approached a climb known as The Muur or “The Wall”. In the below video, you can see Boonen and Cancellara riding perfectly in sync, and then it happens…

At about 1:40 into the video, without ever even coming out of the saddle, Cancellara finds some otherworldly gear and crushes Boonen into oblivion. Not only does he break away, but he continues to widen the gap through the finish line! If you ever wanted some motivation for climbing, this would be it. Please leave your comments below!
